Dear Attorney General; Consumer Affairs Division:
This is to file a complaint concerning the business practices of Charter Cable services in Barre, Vermont.
I had been having patchy service from Chrter for the last couple of weeks. My bill for their service was apdi for this month. To the tune of about 150.00 per month for both the television & internet bundle.
Now they send me new flyers offering the exact same services for 69.95 for the next six months, guaranteed.
This is less than half the price I amn paying.
When I called the repair service today, they told me, more specifically Lisa a rep told me, that what had ahappened was they put a soft ware bug into my service, so the cable service would become intermittent. I do not think Lisa was supposed to reveal this. She said, "they have disconnected your service from the pole, just put this soft computer program on your service so it does just that...you get cable sometimes with some stations".
I was appalled. how can that possibly be ewthical or legal?
Normally, with a utility say, the company sends a red letter warning about a disconnect notice & gives you a chance to respond. Not Charter.
This is psychological warfare. It messes with peoples brains. It is fraud, CONSUMER fraud of the highest order, particularly the disable who rely on these home services. Fair is fair. If you want to cut off service, do it honestly. Not with some sneeky computer program that messes with the service I already paid for.
Also they attempt to EXTORT another whole month's rent up front in their billing policies. My service IS PAID for the month o0f March. So to do this is sheer evil. I do not appreciate this. DO SOMETHING! Or the FBI will, & I will include you all in a massive class action suit for the people against such extortionist type tactics.
I will also PROMISE to write an article at AmericanChronicle.com concerning how effectively our own Attorney General's office is at STOPPING such a practice.
Sincerely, Monica King, retired Justice, State of New Hampshire
